Services for Pastors & Institutions of Faith

Eagles Response is a federally certified non-profit organization (501c3). Its foundation is as an Inter-Faith organization that recognizes most established religions. One of the areas we are especially interested in is the staff and membership of these religious organizations.
Most pastors and clergy never received training in Bible School, Seminary, or equivalent in crisis management. The multiple incidents of tragedies in the schools has shown us how this affects the community and its flows into the Houses of Worship. Not only are the families and friends impacted but those impacted by the tragedy look to their spiritual leaders for guidance; depending on the situation this could adversely affect the mental health of the spiritual leaders as well. Mental Health often has a bad reputation among the religious communities. It is Eagles Response desire to assist in relieve some of the stigma and to integrate appropriate faith interventions for the targeted group.

Chaplain Forest is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and is endorsed as a Military and Emergency Services Chaplain. Forest’s first father-in-law was a long-time minister who suffered great personal and emotional trauma during his years of ministry. Forest saw the need for healing and how church situations are often unkind and can severely impact the children of ministers as well. It is his sincere desire to help those in ministry, both formal and lay, in addressing their needs and healing the wounds that often result from attacks on clerical personnel and their families.

Eagles Response provides several programs intended to meet the needs of the spiritual community. These include:

Confidential Counseling

There is a documented surge of suicides, substance abuse, and moral failures among clergy who get mentally worn down by others’ problems, lack of sleep, personal financial issues, and other existential and actual concerns. The stigma of seeking mental wellness assistance by the Clergy and their reluctance to “open up” about their issues to others increases the problem. Eagles Response provides fully confidential, one-on-one counseling to Faith-Based Leaders and their staff to help provide “solution-focused” counseling provided by trained members of the religious community.

Spiritual First Aid

Spiritual First Aid is a 8-hour facilitated class that teaches individuals techniques similar to CPR and First Aid for injuries but instead focuses on helping individuals to stabilize from wounds to the psychological and mental self. This is a great introduction class for those persons who want to expand their abilities to assist others who are suffering from the mental and spiritual stresses and attacks of today’s society.

Assisting Individuals in Crisis Course

AIC is intended to allow both Clergy and Lay Persons to have basic knowledge of how the brain and body react during a traumatic crisis. It also provides those taking the course in how to collaborate with individuals in crisis and when referral to higher levels of care is warranted. This is a great course for Youth Leaders who may be inundated with requests for help after a school-related event.

Group Crisis Intervention Course

GCI is a follow-on course to AIC. Its purpose is training the attendees in dealing with crisis issues both for the church, synagogue (or equivalent) as a large group to provide information or to meet with smaller groups to help the affected person(s) to deal with their feelings with the help of others in the group that experienced the same trauma.

Pastoral Crisis Intervention Course

Pastoral Crisis Intervention may be thought of as the integration of psychological crisis intervention with pastoral perspectives and resources. This course is designed to train participants in the use of psychological trauma and intervention techniques. This program does not provide instruction on spirituality or theology. Additionally, more specific advanced concepts and current field applications where pastoral crisis intervention will be covered.

Building Spiritual Strength Course

BSS is a new course that was developed by the Veterans Administration with the assistance of a Chaplain. A significant part of the program deals with Moral Injury, a mental wellness concept that helps those who have experienced or witnessed traumatic events that could lead to development of Post-Traumatic Stress or other mental health impacts. BSS looks at existential issues and questions such as Survivor’s Guilt, issues dealing with questions such as “why did I live, and they died? If God is good why did he allow this to happen, etc.? Studies show that dealing with this early on reduces the possibility of long-term impact. This class is good for both Clergy and the impacted combat veterans, First Responders, disaster survivors, and in some cases those who have also experienced sexual or childhood trauma.

During the Overcome Academy workshop, you'll learn the exact same techniques REBOOT Recovery has employed to help thousands of people overcome trauma over the past decade.
